Read Exodus 5:1 through 11:10
The conversations between God and Moses were deep, honest, and frightening. Moses asked questions—something many people are afraid to do. God responded, emphasizing what He had done in the past, what He would do in the future, and what He had heard. God revealed that He had heard the groaning of His people.
God also remembered His covenant. He informed Moses that it was time for action.
“Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant” (Exodus 6:5).
God was listening, and He had heard enough.
Though it might sometimes seem like God doesn’t hear the cries of His people, this story reminds God’s children that He listens. He hears their cries.
God continues listening. He longs to hear His people call on Him for action. He has promised to hear and to answer those cries.
Challenge for Today: Listen to the hurts of others. Care for them, cry with them, and pray for them. Believe God will hear your prayers.
